Rides Here and There

Today, a few of my Nogales and Rowland friends visited me, plus Ceejay. We took the bus across the street to the mall. The ride there was so entertaining that none of us wanted to get off. Ceejay talked in a lisp and the phrase of the day was ‘don’t get it twisted’ (dohn.geh.eh.twis.said).

We reached the mall and met up with Jerel, Chelsea, and a few others who I didn’t know. Chelsea came with me to buy Spam Musubi. Then, we went down stairs to buy tickets for ‘Meet the Spartans’. We went into AMC and I watched Ceejay and Kathleen play DDR. We went into the packed movie theater and followed Ceejay to locate seats upstairs.

I bumped into Mindy Song and Jason Ho. We couldn’t come across seats upstairs, so we went back down to sit up front like we usually do. The movie had a limited of amusing parts and it lacked a point for a movie. The movie ended less than an hour later.

We chilled upstairs at the food court. I tried finding rides to go to bible study. As the clock ticked down I was worried I wouldn’t be able to attend. Soon enough Ate Jennifer called my phone and said that she and Ate Bianca were going to pick us up.

Ecstatic, we went outside to wait. I got call fifteen minutes later and we had to go downstairs to the other side of the parking lot. We found out that instead of seven people attending bible study, there was eight. We had to squeeze April in our car because there are only two seats in the back.

We reached Oswalt Elementary. We went in, in the middle of singing. After singing, we played the blanket game. It was divided with only April on my side. It was hilarious, but the game was soon over.

The junior high and high school went into the library so Uncle Loui could lecture us on the message. We learned that we are saved by Grace, not works. For the Introduction, the question was ‘Do you know for certain that you have eternal life? That is, if you were to die this instant, would you go to heaven?’ I believe I am. We reviewed about the stool.

We learned about “do vs. done”. People who do things for themselves “I”, is do. John Piper said that our problem is not the bad things we do, but we are bad ourselves’ Christianity falls into done. Its not about ‘what would Jesus do’, it’s about ‘what Jesus did’. To heaven we need a ticket or a key. And that key or ticket is both free and not free. It is free because it takes no cost to earn it, and it’s not free because Jesus paid for it.

I learned to confirm if you are saved. Three things: one, you have to realize that you can’t make it to heaven apart from what Jesus has done. Two, realize what Christ has done is the only thing that cover your sins. Three takes three T’s: Trust what Jesus did, Treasure; willing to give up everything for Him. Turn from sin, and turn to Jesus.
